Before & After time!
These are just a few of the pieces of antique/vintage furniture that I have gotten to refinish! I've only been doing it for about 3 years, so I'm definitely not a pro, but I can say that I am quite proud with how my pieces have turned out :) I hope you guys like this!
This is my very first project. I did not like the normal changing tables, and I did not have enough room in Claire's nursery for a changing table and a dresser. So I looked around at different places, lots of antique stores, and finally found "the one"! It was a 1950's buffet table/sideboard and I fell in love the second I saw it!
Oh yeah, I'm fully aware. To most, it is the furthest from "love at first sight". But I see the bones, and they are absolutely PERFECT to me!
I put a changing pad on top and it was so sweet! Plus I had the storage of a dresser underneath!
After our move to Japan, she had outgrown the need for a changing table, so I moved this piece into my dining room. I just changed the knobs and gave it a whole new look!
The next piece I bought before our move to Japan because I knew I wouldn't find a piece like this and I wanted Claire to eventually have a sweet little dresser with a mirror on top! That's what every little girl needs, right?!
[I actually bought this piece off Craigslist]
I loooooved the way her previous "dresser" turned out, so I decided to basically do the same thing except this time I stained the top of it a dark walnut and then the rest just a cream paint with distressing. :)
The point where CJ asks me... "Are you sure you want to do this?" ha.
That guy.... ;)
The next one is a coffee table that I bought at a thrift store for $7.
[the one from my previous post!]
When we moved to Japan, we decided we wanted to hang our TV on the wall. The entertainment center that we had looked pretty out of place because it was very short. So I hit the local Japanese thrift store and found a super vintage....thing? I'm not 100% sure exactly what it was supposed to be, but for $20 I knew it would be the perfect entertainment unit for my house!
I popped off the drawer pulls [talk about retro] and replaced them with cute little new brass pulls, except in the picture I'm showing you guys, I hadn't put them on yet!
The last one I have is the most previous piece that I have done. A super sweet kitchen table and chairs.
The table only came with two chairs so I got two more that don't match the two here, but they do match each other...which is actually exactly what I was going for :)
This one is my pride and joy! I am so proud of how this one turned out!
I hope you guys like these!
What should my next piece be!?
